This anime caught my eye early on in the season, and initially, I felt like it might be more of a unique Isekai, based on the fact that seven geniuses from earth, were transported to another world. I thought, that this anime would have an interesting spin on it, because of the fact that characters transported, would have such a vast knowledge of something completely foreign to the inhabitants of this new world, and for a while, it did.
For my money, the most interesting part of the entire anime was the early episodes following "merchant." Due largely in part, because of the way he was able to quickly raise money in a world, where the concept of business was non-existent, it was fun to watch him basically take out the big shot that was controlling most of the money in this world
After this though, I felt like this turned into such a normal Isekai. Fighting, people using their powers to win, the whole nine yards. With the exception of "Doctor" and Ringo, down the stretch, there wasn't really any insane exploitation by the Seven Lights Faith, in terms of turning the world on its head. Doctor was able to cure injuries and illnesses which were beyond the people of this world, and Ringo, was able to single handedly build and invent defense systems, but otherwise, the other characters left a lot to be desired.
The magician acted as the face of this new religion, but, aside from a few things here and there, he was relatively lax throughout, outside of being a mysterious figurehead.
Shinobu or Ninja, more or less acted as a spy the whole show, and despite being a ninja, she didn't seem all that gifted in terms of combat. Samurai, on the other hand, had her fair share of cool moments, but still didn't seem that crazy when all the fighting began.
And then you have the president. who knows how to talk, and is a natural born leader. For the one in charge of everything though, he felt very underwhelming, but, maybe that was the point. His strength comes in the fact that he knows how to use people, and bring out the best in his team.
In the last episode, they hinted at the potential of a second season, to which I'll say, I'll watch. This wasn't a bad anime by any stretch, I just thought it had more potential than what they got out of it. Not that I dislike good ol' fashioned combat and fighting, I just don't think that was the particular strong suit of this anime. I give it a 7/10
