EDIT: Don't know that I have ever heard any of them claim to be agnostic or even atheist. They (Maynard mainly, I guess) have a problem with humans and the religions they create to control others. They are certainly spiritual, if nothing else.

Maynard has an interesting relationship with god. His mother was a devout believer despite being crippled for 10,000 days before passing. He touches on faith quite a lot, can highly reccommend wings for marie pt.1 and pt.2 as that is an emotional force of nature that is about his mother and her relationship with god and his own.

My all time favorite band! Seen them 6 times in concert plus I've seen Maynard with A Perfect Circle and Pucifer separately. The man is a beast to be the lead singer in 3 active bands plus do MMA and own everything needed for his own brand of wine. He's just built different!

Yo when I saw tool live the experience was so profound and personal, this song especially. Every one felt so together, both a family and a single being. I remember my friend saying it felt like he was in church for the first time. Just imagine those visuals on screens all over the stage while getting lost in the songs bleeding into one another. I just stumbled on your guy's channel. Love you both, hope your life in recovery is blessed. ❤

Maynard was raised Baptist but is agnostic/atheist. He accepts the doctrine and dogma of his family and peers but follows secular, sceptical narratives in his own practice. Danny follows a lighter side of Thelema, where Crowley's original philosophies were its darker aspects and conglomerates.

It's so much fun watching other people get their minds effing blow by this stuff. Cheers!

both songs were meant to be played together. I'm glad it was both despite the title. The first song was an intro song essentially... one vibe that DIVES into the second, but you should react to both. Good stuff. If you weren't reading along with the lyrics it's hard to catch it all. Tool army will have listened once, read the lyrics eventually and realized knowing it all makes it so much better.

The guitar at the end is like no metal sound I've ever heard - heavier in it's own unique way than most average metal. Like some sort of Energetic Union of Sound Made Flesh.

These, along with many other TOOL songs, reference the concept of the inner being, life beyond life, and struggles with religion and faith or spirituality. Something is beyond here and now. Most of this album, minus Ticks and Leaches, is questioning the inner self on where we are in the Big Picture.

One of Tool's best songs imho. And the lyrics are as profound as the video.
